Terms of Service
Last updated: October 2026 · Operator contact: hello@getsidechannel.com
By using SideChannel you agree to these terms.
The service
SideChannel is a public chat network for developers, provided as-is during a beta period. Features, channels, and availability may change; the service may be interrupted or discontinued with reasonable notice posted in #general.
Accounts
- You need a GitHub account in good standing. One person, one account.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
Acceptable use
You may not: harass or threaten other users; post spam, scams, or malicious code presented as help; share other people's private information; post content that is illegal where you are; attempt to disrupt the service (flooding, scraping against rate limits, exploiting bugs instead of reporting them); or impersonate another person or project.
Shared code snippets keep their original licenses; by posting a snippet you grant other users the right to view and insert it for the purpose of helping you debug.
Moderation
Users can report messages and block other users. Admins may remove content, and suspend or ban accounts that violate these terms, with or without warning for severe violations. Reputation ("rep") is a cosmetic score with no monetary value and may be adjusted to correct abuse.
Liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including code you choose to run from snippets others share. Always review code before running it.
Changes
Material changes to these terms will be announced in #general at least 7 days before they take effect.
